Rocco's Owners Interviews
A few months ago, Erin Richey, a student at Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism, interviewed Rocco and Patricia as part of her program research. Rocco's Shout Out on NY's CBS FM
Our thanks to Joe Causi and the staff at WCBS 101.1FM who gave a shout out to Rocco's on Monday. The radio station got a cake from us and it made Joe very happy! We were excited and surprised by Joe for the mention. He’s one of Brooklyn’s own and happy that he enjoyed our cake.

Rocco's Night Before Christmas
We thought it would be fun to make “Night Before Christmas” poem and make it our own. So for your enjoyment, and with our apologies to whomever actually wrote the original, here goes:
It’s the Monday before Christmas and all through the West Village, not a creature was stirring… except at Rocco’s where delicious pastry is being made almost 24/7. Merry Christmas!!
The children were nestled, all snug in their beds, while visions of Rocco’s fresh filled cannoli danced in their heads.
Mrs. Rocco in her ‘kercief and Mr. Rocco in his bakers’ hat, had tried to have a chat. When from the kitchen there arose such a hum, he sprang from his seat to check the Baba Rum.
Away to the basement Mr. Rocco flew, down the stairs passing the French Lulu. To the bakers table past the old mixers and scale, when to his eyes should appear eight bakers making Christmas cookies without fail.
There was the crew, arms tossing and turning as the dough flew. On Johnny, Sergio, on Ernesto and Mike! To the racks and the oven! These pastry cant wait for their holiday lovin!
Now dash away! Dash away! Dash away all! To the shop and café – don’t stall! Patricia is about to groan, customers need those panettone!
Mr. Rocco didn’t speak a word, hearing the prancing and pawing as customers stirred. He came up the stairs with a beam, all covered in baking flower and cannoli cream. A wink of his eye and a twist of his head, told everyone they had nothing to dread.
He sprang to the stairs with a shake, he exclaimed “I gotta make more cheesecake!” and as he disappeared down the stairs, we knew all his customers would get their Christmas mouse squares.
And from Pasticceria Rocco so sunny and bright, with traditional pastry so right, the Family wishes everyone a wonderful, joyous and safe Christmas.

Rocco's Achieves A Grade from NYC Dept of Health
Today the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygine (NYCDOH) inspected Rocco's and found the conditions merited an "A" Grade.
With this grade we hope that you will find confidence in how hard we work to keep Rocco's safe for our workers and customers. Please stop in and enjoy the traditional flavors we serve, made fresh everyday, right in our shop.

Rocco on Sesame Street
In early 1970, Rocco Sr. helped bake an apple pie as part of a Sesame Street short. This video shows Rocco at the pastry shop that is now Pasticceria Rocco. Rocco Sr. is called "Sal" in the video. The equipment you see is still used in our shop.

Rocco's Closing for Irene
Irene's potential visit has caused much upheaval in NYC. For the safety of our customers and employees, Rocco's will be closing at noon on Saturday, Aug 27th. We plan to remain closed on Sunday, Aug 28th and reopen on Monday, Aug 29th.
We are sorry for the inconvenience. We hope that everyone stays safe through this event.

Our Youtube Channel is now open!
Pasticceria Rocco now has a Youtube channel! We've posted our first instructional video called "How to Fill Cannoli". Rocco's fills cannoli when they are ordered, never before.
We ask our customers and fans to let us know what you think and suggest other video ideas - we're always listening.

Pink Ribbon Fund Raiser
Today, Pasticceria Rocco donated an American Cheesecake to a corporate fund raiser. The proceeds from the sale of the cheesecake went to the Pink Ribbon Fund. Rocco's has Re-Opened!!
To all our customers, past, present and future,
In early May, Pasticceria Rocco was visited by the New York City department of Health. While there the inspector found a critical issue that resulted in our closure. The family was devastated and hurt by the actions of the city. We have never put our customer’s health and well being at risk and assure you that we have done everything within our power to protect our products and our valued customers.
Our kitchen was still the same as it was over 50 years ago and a factor in the inspection. We had planned a major modernization of our baking facility in the upcoming summer. But because of this event we decided to start now. We updated our electrical systems, plumbing, refurbished the ovens, replaced some of the aged equipment, implemented new controls and updated all the work areas. We even replaced the staircase going up to the main store from the basement, and gave some of our cafe chairs a facelift.
In spite of what happened, we asked the City of New York to be our partner in this effort. They provided us with guidance and support where they could. We want to thank the City and particularly the Department of Health for the information they provided to help us rebuild our facility.
During our closure, we received an outpouring of support from the community and friends. We are truly blessed to be part of the West Village and appreciate everyone of you that stopped in or wrote to us.
The cost of this event to the family was high, financially and emotionally. But unlike large companies that put their profits first, we as a family put our customers first. We want to reassure our commitment to you, our customers, hoping that you continue to visit us and Indulge in Sweet Tradition.
Renovation Time!
The family has decided to close the shop for about 3 week while we make some needed renovations. Once we reopen, we will have the same great products that we love and hope you can join us. Supporting Children with Cancer
Tonight we gave away about 300 of our World Famous Mini-Cannoli at the New Jersey PNC Art Center in support of Project Ladybug. A wonderful event which we are very proud to support.
Lindia Bastianich gave a great speach about Christmas as a child and the importance of family and food. We understand she tried a cannoli or two and was impressed. A young lady named Olivia got a lesson in cannoli filling from Patricia and went on to state to everyone in the room how much she likes pasta :)
Most importantly for us we met a great many people who enjoyed the wonderful food supplied by local merchants there to help the cause.

Festival of Flavors with Chef Lidia Bastianich on Monday, December 13th
We’re proud to announce that we will be handing out our mini-Cannoli at the Festival of Flavors with Chef Lidia Bastianich on Monday, December 13th at the PNC Arts Center in Holmdel, NJ from 6pm to 9:30pm. This is a charity event for the Project Ladybug Foundation for children with cancer. Lidia will be signing her n...ew book and there will be a silent auction for all kinds of memorabilia.
