There is no shortage of Italian pastry shops in NY, but Rocco's is my fave. They have all the traditional pastries and cookies I knew growing up (my grandfather made pastries in Manhattan and LI), as well as french style pastries, cheesecake, etc. Gelato, too. Oh, and there's a full selection of mini-pastry, in case you feel like trying a cannoli AND a rum baba. If you're like me, you're not thinking of dieting and have about five mini ones! They have sit-down and take-out service, and I've always found the people pleasant. Great coffee, too. You'll be amazed by the store-length, glass display case that holds the pastry. If you're someone like me who drinks your coffee black and wants real pastry with your joe, try Rocco's. You'll never go to Starbucks again.
I just got back from NY and this is the second time that I have been to Rocco's...This is a fabulous place! The black and white cookies are the very BEST in NY, and the cannoli's are to die for...Everything in the bakery is top notch...Take a cab to this place, if you are not near, as it is absolutely worth it...This is New York's BEST!!!!!!!!!
On a recent visit to NYC we decided to drop in here after reading rave reviews. Our experience was better than we expected. The coffeehouse has a cozy glass roofed parlor at the back. The glass cases are filled with an assortment of goodies...wish i could try all. Service was efficient. The Italian Cannoli and Rum Babas were very very good. Even the Cappuccino was amongst the best I've had. A definite MUST when visiting this side of town.
Great place, delicious pastries and seasonal ices and gelato, can't go wrong here. I always recommend it and work nearby, so frequent it often. Hope they stay in business for a long time, NYC needs places like this, what our city should be about.
I've been going to Rocco's since I was a kid and it never fails to deliver. The best cakes, cookies, and pastries in the city. They also have a great coffee menu. The staff is so friendly and always welcomes us with open arms. My wife and I go here after dinner for our birthdays. Highly recommend Rocco's to all!
Out of all of the dessert places in NYC, Rocco's has to be by far the best I've ever tasted. I used to live in a dorm near Bleecker Street, and my roommates and I would make a pilgrimage to Rocco's at least once a week (even in the snow!) to get our sweet fix. N0 matter what I ordered, whether it was a chocolate cake, cheesecake or an almond cookie, I always got a chocolate covered cannoli to go with it- they were that good!
